Qutub Shahi

After numerous visits, one realization struck me strongly – even a burial place can transform into a picnic spot. Every day, families gather at the 7 Tombs to unwind and enjoy their weekends. Despite the presence of countless other recreational spots, people choose to spend their entire day here, engaging in conversations and sharing food amidst the historical charm crafted by the various Qutub Shahi rulers.

While women are allowed to participate in funeral prayers, they are prohibited from visiting the graves – a stance supported by the more stringent of the two scholarly opinions. According to relevant hadiths, such visits are forbidden. However, repentance is the only requirement, with no obligation to offer any kaffara. The images of women donning burqas in these surroundings evoke a nostalgic sentiment, transporting one back to that bygone era. Yet, such snapshots were likely nonexistent during that time due to the distinct purpose for which the structures were built. The modern world has transformed everything, rendering the purpose of those buildings obsolete.

Interestingly, a majority of weekend visitors to this ancient site are women. Despite the visible cracks and damages on the old structure, it continues to draw people, fostering a connection between them. In today's fast-paced world, where individuals struggle to find time for family amidst their busy schedules, stepping inside the 7 Tombs makes them forget everything. It's as if they are transported back to the olden days.
